Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
For the ride of your life, travel from the desert floor to the very top of Mt. San Jacinto - 8,000 feet - in 20 minutes. At the top of the mountain you will experience hiking trails, mule train rides, restaurants and a movie that features the construction of the largest single-lift tramway ever built! Click here for more information.
Winter Adventure Center
Cross-country ski equipment and snowshoes are available for rental (snow conditions permitting). The Adventure Center is located a short distance from the bottom of the cement path.
The Adventure Center is open 10am to 4pm Thursdays and Fridays and 9am to 4pm Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Sorry, equipment cannot be reserved on weekends. A first come first serve policy is in effect. Must be at least 18 years old to rent equipment.
No Rentals after 3:30pm.
Hiking
Mt. San Jacinto State Park offers 54 miles of hiking trails located within a 13,000-acre pristine wilderness, one of the last in California. All trails are accessed by exiting the Tram's Mountain Station and descending a concrete pathway, approximately .3 miles, to Long Valley. In Long Valley there are picnic tables, water, stoves for barbecue, Ranger Station, flush toilets and some easy trails.
For your comfort always wear sturdy closed toe shoes, layered comfortable clothing, hat and sunscreen. A light jacket in spring and early summer and for fall and winter a heavy jacket and gloves is a good idea, along with appropriate waterproof shoes.
Guided Nature Walks
For those who are truly environmentally oriented, the Mount San Jacinto State Park Volunteers conduct guided walks each weekend during the summer. Times of the walks may be obtained at the Mountain Station Natural History Museum. The center also offers maps and nature books for a nominal fee. There is no charge for the 40-minute walk. Participants are urged to wear flat, comfortable shoes.
Self-Guided Walks
Follow the nature trail posts around a mile (1.2 km) loop. This easy level trail provides an excellent introduction to the Parks plants and animals.
Dining
Spectacular views combined with sumptuous food provide the perfect dining getaway. Lunch is served from 11am until 3pm and dinner is served from 4pm until 8:30pm.
Elevations offers a gourmet dining experience with Cal-Franco Cuisine.
The Top of the Tram Restaurant offers cafeteria-style dining with menu changes twice a year.
Times
The first Tramcar up is 10 a.m. Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays. The Tramway runs at least every half-hour with the last car up 8 p.m. and the last car down 9:45 p.m.
